      The river IJser is passing only a few meters beyond the barbed wire,  so you can guess what happened when there was some shelling that destroyed dykes.

On the left is the Belgian uniform as used in the beginning of the War with the German Uniform on the Right Weapons as used in the First World War On the left is German bullet proof equipment with gas mask and on the Right is the Belgian uniform as used later on in the War.
